A World-Class Inspection Company

Patterson Tubular Services (PTS) is a world-class inspection company that employs industry-leading NDT techniques to detect discontinuities in tubular goods.
We specialize in state-of-the-art Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI) and Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) to provide the best possible inspection of OCTG material for our customers. Since 1945, PTS has been fully committed to our customers’ success by delivering reliable, value-added solutions that maximize quality and safety.

Our History

1945

Patterson Tubular Services began selling oilfield chemicals and hauling oilfield equipment, which eventually led to a lucrative
“side” business storing and maintaining tubing and casing.

1957

PTS acquired a pipe storage yard in Morgan City, Louisiana. At one point in the early 1960s, the Morgan City yard
was purported to have the largest stock of oilfield pipe in the world with more than 200,000 tons stored on approximately 300 acres.

1973

Rollins, Inc., purchased PTS. In 1980, Patterson developed another storage and maintenance facility in Channelview, Texas,
adding electromagnetic inspection services to Morgan City in 1974 and Channelview in 1981.

1984

PTS was spun-off from Rollins, Inc., as part of RPC Energy Services. In 1996, RPC Energy Services was renamed RPC, Inc.

2006

Our Channelview facility became home to the industry’s first phased-array ultrasonic inspection unit.

2018

PTS Morgan City unveiled the first ever large OD brush machine, and PTS Channelview added new EMI and SEA lines.
